I am not naming kudzu, but life always finds a way to survive, and even thrive, regardless of the conditions. I am amazed at the flowers or weeds that sprout between between sidewalk slabs. Do you know how hard it is to have a surface completely sterile? I digress, but what will remain on the earth after an apocalyptic thermonuclear war? Cockroaches and Cher.
Scientists find new bacteria species tells that Indian scientists have discovered bacteria in the upper stratosphere where it was believed there was no life. A balloon came down with three previously unclassified colonies of bacteria. The bacteria are apparently resistant to the ultra-violet radiation 25 miles above the earth's surface. According to the researchers, the new bacteria species are unlike those found elsewhere on the earth.
The Indian team has been releasing balloon experiments since 2001 as a study to discover the origin of life. Next, to find origin of new bacteria adds this comment, "This leads us to the next mission to see whether the new bacteria came from outside earth or got tossed up from the earth."
Forgive me. Speculative physics is bad enough, but now we have speculative biology?
